Using a 100-watt amplifier wired directly to a 10-inch woofer in an active configuration, the M1500 provides far more bass energy than a conventional design of the same power. The subwoofer is easily capable of visceral bass for subterranean theatre effects, yet nimble enough to teat the most subtle music with delicacy.The M1500 has left and right unbalanced inputs with both positive and negative phase connections, a switchable electronic crossover and a 100-Watt high efficiencybipolar amplifier design. It is fully shielded for use close to monitors and televisions and, like all Meridian subwoofers, is constructed from 22mm MDF which is both braced and damped.The crossover in the M1500 is a second order Butterworth design with switchable settings at 80Hz and 120Hz. It can also be switched to the "OFF" position, bypassing the internal crossover to allow better integration between the M1500 and surround sound controllers that feature internal crossovers on their dedicated subwoofer outputs.
